Rob W. and I hit the water at about noon. It's a dreary, rainy day... should be good for BWO's, which have been around. We see fair numbers of Brown Drakes, PMD's, but not so many Baetis... some caddis also. The goldeye are in evidence as usual, and, being easily amused, we fart around with them from time to time. I do land one fine brown, of the two-foot category, on an elk hair caddis. The fish was rising within a couple of rod lengths of the boat when I walked back to the boat from upstream. A truly healthy slab of fish, that would be a fine specimen even by, say, New Zealand standards. Good fun indeed on the 4 wt. Lotsa rain today and the river is rising. Still fishable for the moment... but this might be the last day that it is for a while, unfortunately.
