It's a "Bluebird Day" on the Faith! We're on the river at St. Jacobs by 10:00 or so... run into some challenging customers immediately; more excellent spotting by Bob. Fair number of other folks around, apparently. "Tough crowd", sez Bob. Nothing hooked before lunch, despite 9 or so chances. One time I see a rise, but I am sure that it is not to my fly, so I don't set the hook (notwithstanding the command from Bob to do so)... ooops... that WAS a rise to my fly... damn. First fish to hand is taken on a small nymph. Good visibility, big jump by the fish, who seems to get the line wrapped around his tail, and then we're off on a 200 yard dash downstream, where the leader gets sawn off. Then, an eight pounder on a dry fly, an Adams Irresistible, to be precise, also involving a 200 yard run down the bowling ball rocks on the streambank. Then , a nice five pounder, also on a dry fly. We go on up to Pussy Stream (!) but not before yet another lengthy downstream obstacle course behind a nine and a quarter pounder, taken on (what else) #12 Adams, 4x, lucky cast. Stay again at the Museum Hut, brings back memories of '96. Final tally (approx); Fish 14; KMS 4
