Four days of chasing steelhead and salmon with my pal Darren Wright with the excellent-as-always accomodations at The Steelhead House in Terrace, and fabulous meals from Darren's partner, Melissa MacDonald. Day One is the lower Skeena at Andesite; Day Two is the Skeena at Usk, and on Day Four we are back to the Skeena near the mouth of the Lakelse River. On Day Three, we head up to the pretty darned remote headwaters of the Exstew River in pursuit of Coho, in Darren's new "Solar" Russian-built inflatable boat with a 25 horse outboard jet. The boat and the trip are very cool; Google Solar Jet Boats for a sample of what these boats can do. It has been a high water year, but the Skeena is in pretty good shape... the steelhead, however, are not in evidence at the moment. Darren gets a couple of Coho on the Exstew, and I get a nice Coho on the last cast of the last pool on the last day, lol.
