August 30 - Sept. 02, 2019 --- Morice River, British Columbia
Me n' Wade. Weather was great. Water conditions were normal. We run into a few bull trout, pinks, chum and even a northern pikeminnow, but no steelhead :-(. We know that we're early, but there just aren't any steelhead around. We do see a couple being caught, and I have an interaction with a fish that chases my fly, but that's about it for 4 days. I clumsily break the tip on Wade's Sage two-hander, but we manage a field repair with some sandpaper, superglue and a lighter. Classified waters fees don't kick in until September 1, so at least we get a couple of "free" days of fishing, lol. We get downstream on the Bulkley as far as the footbridge below Barrett Station, and upstream not too far from Aspen Creek. Boat is parked overnight at ByMac with no issues.
