On the water about eleven, it's a relatively quiet day on the beautiful Elk, altho we do sort of swap pools with a couple of driftboats from Utah all day long. Nuthin' really for hatches all day, with a sparse mayfly hatch at dusk. I manage a couple or three fish from pretty much everywhere we stop, and we pull in fifteen or twenty times. A good percentage of those fish are whitefish, however, and most are taken on a nymph. We run into a brief rainsquall at the end of the day, but the system passes by the time we get back to Rick's. Supper is at Rip N' Richards, a classic old Fernie restaurant that's still going strong. Our favorite breakfast place, Jamocha's, is closed permanently, though, as is the former fly shop on the south side of town...
