August 21, 2003 – Bow River

Johnnie McB and I meet at about 4:45 a.m., and by golly we’re on the river by 7:30 or so – dead battery delays us by a ˝ hour or so, and we head upstream @ Johnson’s Island. Approx. 80 cms/sec above the weir, 40 below. Tons of weeds in the low, warmish Bow. Can’t fish streamers or nymphs; I do hook one nice fish on a hopper pattern; he breaks me off. We’re back at the launch by 12:30 or so, then it’s off to Speargrass for a round of golf – more fun than the fishin’, I’m afraid…
