Float BMX to 67th St. in the city. I had noticed the goldeye rising in the Riverglen Pool a couple of nights ago, sometime after 9:00 p.m. So tonite, I arrange to be there at about 8:00, and nothing really does happen until 9:00 or so, i.e. sunset. Then, the "goldies" start popping up, and I hook a dozen or so between 9:00 and 9:30, on a little parachute caddis. I only land about a third of the fish I hook, as usual for this species and their softish, if toothy, little mouths. Also par for the course was these fish's strong preference for flies that are skating or twitching or fluttering or skittering. Not so much for the drag free drift. See half a dozen spin fishermen along the route, but I don't see anyone catching anything tonite. Fine calm weather. Lots of bugs in the air at dusk. There are a few BWO-type mayflies on the water, and caddis in the bushes.
