Walk down to the river at about 8:30 p.m. to take a look around. Not much going on, other than some drunken river-rafters (more precisely, a Canadian Tire raft, and a 10 foot aluminum car topper) and their unfortunate kids who are pulled in on shore, apparently picking up some more beer for the rest of their float. River floating has been extremely popular in town this summer. Evidence in the form of discarded beer cans is ample. Eventually, at dark, there are some delicate rises on the flats. I sneak out and hook a fine..... goldeye. Lose another on a caddis pattern. There are some of the creamy white caddis about, that you see this time of year. Waskasoo Creek is pretty high and muddy due to recent heavy rains, but the river itself is low and relatively clear. Home in time for "The National" news.
