Just as we're putting our boat in the water at Highway 24 about 9:00 am, a fellow fly fisher with outboard jet pulls in, and he walks over to our boat. He wants to give us a headsup, advising that he'd been on the river yesterday, and when he got back, someone had slashed a tire on his truck and trailer. Several other vehicles and trailers had their tires slashed as well (but only one tire per truck or trailer). Lovely. No matter, it turns out that we have a pretty decent day on the water, boating about a couple dozen, with another dozen or so solid LDR's. Plenty of other close encounters too, as per usual. Streamering for the most part, with good ol' BRB's doing the trick again. We drift down into the Siksika Nation for a bit, and try some nymphing which produces a few fish. See a couple of other boats on the river; note pretty fair sized outfitter's camp (?) on the north bank near the Silvertip boat park (this was here back in the summer of '06, as well). Run into Ricky, Julian, Bubbles, Lucy, Sarah and their Doberman "Duke" fishing from the boat launch upon our return. After a little trouble getting their jacked up 4X4 started, the hugely pregnant Lucy latches onto a nice rainbow on her Rapala, and Ricky bonks it. Mixed sun and cloud, high about 20. River is fluctuating from about 145-160 cubes, couple feet visibility and greenish. Our tires are still intact upon our return. Burgers at the A&W in Strathmore at about 9:00 pm, then off to Delburne to drop off Mark and Ryan.
