July 9, 2011 --- Bow River, Alberta

Meet guide George Beasley at McKinnon Flats at 7:30, and downstream we go. Very little traffic on the river today, given that the takeouts at Legacy and Carseland are closed for flood damage repair. The river is in good shape, and the fish are most definitely keyed in on stonefly nymphs at the moment. Hook a couple dozen, land maybe 15; mostly post-spawn rainbows. Best fish of the day is a big streamer eating brown, tho. We find a few rising fish at days end down by Carseland ("Mini-Must-be Nice"), but overall there is very little surface activity. George proves to be very pleasant and knowledgeable, and he has a cool homebuilt jet sled. Flies du jour: Jimmy Legs stonefly nymph; Party Boy streamer. Off the water at 8:00 PM, home by tenish.
