Well, this is different. It's fly fishin' with the Zacko Boys on this beautiful water, full of big, active rainbows, and the local flymaster gives us accurate instructions. Techniques include trolling a leech, or doing the chironomid thang... forceps clamped to your fastest sinking line, with a few feet of mono/leader show you where bottom is. One then suspends a "snowcone" or similar "chronie" fly a few feet off the bottom. However, the wildest show comes from a big pod of 'bows who simply whack any dry fly in the vicinity. This is back in the timber, and sunken timber, so quick action is required to avoid breakoffs. Bruce and I find these fish, and Rudy hears our hooting and hollering, so he motors over to investigate. As he approaches, we see a big fish jump out of the water once... then twice... then right into Rudy's jon boat! The 5 lb. rainbow makes quite a scene as he flops around in the Roodman's scow.
