I do an evening drift through town, putting in at the Hwy 2 bridge at about 5:30, and winding up at the 67th Street Bridge underpass at about 9:30. I get a bunch of goldeye, starting at the high banks of the Country Club, then across from Great Chief, and then at the Kerry Wood Pool. Some on skwalas, and later on a skittering elk hair caddis. Goldeye are funny... none of this "dead drift" stuff for them; they much prefer a fly that is either moving sideways or vibrating in the current. No browns tonite. I hear that a couple of friends got six browns this a.m. in the usual spot... no wonder I couldn't find any there tonite, they are all sulking :-) Thanks to Frankie's Shuttle Service.
