Protecting the Black Skimmers at Navarre Beach

BLACK SKIMMER PROTECTION MEASURES
ON THE NAVARRE BEACH BRIDGE CAUSEWAY

Sometimes man wins and wildlife loses. This time the birds won! The beautiful Black Skimmer a protected bird will now be protected at Navarre Beach, Florida.

The Navarre Beach Bridge has two new large electronic signs that alternate through six separate warnings. The Santa Rosa County Commissioners on May 22 approved the adding of two new signs to warn people about speeding above the 35 mph speed limit to protect the nesting Black Skimmers on the Navarre Beach Bridge Causeway. The first sign is located at the foot of the bridge as you are approaching the causeway road. The 2nd sign is located as you are departing the beach from Gulf Blvd. The wording has six separate warnings as shown in my gallery below. [The wording here will be edited along with more images after fencing is installed on May 23 to keep the Black Skimmers and their chicks away from the causeway road]
