At this temple in Bangkok, devotees and disciples of Ajarn (teacher) Dtoy gather. The ritual of Sak Yant or sacred tattooing is carried out over a few days. Ajarn Dtoy assumes / is possessed by the spirit of an ancient Reusi or wise man. His devotees are blessed by him and some fall into a trance-like state themselves. This was a small and intimate happening in a temple on the outskirts of Bangkok, the people gathered there were so welcoming of the 3 or 4 westerners present and I hope that their hospitality is respected in the future and not become a media circus as some other more famous ceremonies have become.
