When Marshall Josip Broz Tito was the Communist President of Yugoslavia, he had this train built as his rolling Presidential palace. He traveled hundreds of thousands of miles in it during its 21 years of operation from 1959 until 1980. Jawaharlal Nehru of India, Achmad Sukarno of Indonesia, Haile Selassie of Ethiopia, Queen Elizabeth II of England, and Reza Pawlavi of Iran were all guests of the Blue Train during this period. The interior of the train are lavishly decorated with fine wood veneers and inlays. We rode the short distance from the Belgrade docks to the station that serves the suburban park of Topcider, originally built as a manor for Prince Milos Obrenovic. Refreshments and entertainment was provided at the station and then we returned to the Danube docks.
