The Monolithic Church, carved from limestone, in the historic little village of St. Emilion. There's now a population of about 2,000.
The Romans first planted vines here in the 2nd Century.
The town was named after Emilion, a monk who settled here in the 8th Century. The monks who followed him started the commercial wine production in the area.
