My thanks to Mac & MaryAnn Deuparo for allowing me to visit their pond on Robinson Lake Road near Higgins Lake.
It is a joy to visit the pond to see and photograph the rich and diverse life in and around the pond. It's also been fascinating to witness the changes that take place from day to day and week to week. There many frogs and snakes, a great population of damsel and dragonflies, and other pond insects. The stands of milkweed attract and support a great many insects too. While standing among the blooming milkweeds this summer, I was able to photograph 7 different kinds of bees and wasps. Butterflies and beetles also joined in on the feast of milkweed pollen. Daddy long legged spiders patrolled the leaves. And I was able to see a few monarch butterfly caterpillars. The summer-long parade of wildflowers is an added treasure.
