I saw this posting of a recent poem by Ferlinghetti at the City Lights Book Store in San Francisco several weeks ago. I think this was written in 2007.
The guest's comments provide colorful illustration for the statement made by Ferlinghetti. The guest's comments are welcomed and appreciated here. In my utopia, and I think Ferlinghetti's, diverse thinking is valued. The guest has no need to be apologetic unless he is offended by comments critical of "his"sweet land of liberty - which is still not free and open to all - even those who are willing to fight and die for that land. Why does Mr Mr Ferlinghetti waste his invaluable wisdom on this pathetic wasteland of a country? I presume of course he has enjoyed the splendors of the other nations of this world?
