San Francisco's Chinatown

Shooting off firecrackers is a long standing tradition during Chinese New Year festivities. This was the grandfather of all firecracker ropes. There were at least 1500 firecrackers on this rope, many of which were cigar size with the strength of an M80. Smaller firecrackers separated pairs of large ones. The 50' rope was hung in a narrow alleyway. The sound was awesome and totally deafening.
