This female Arizona elk is a common sight around the Grand Canyon. These elk, especially the bulls, are enormous animals. The shoulders of a mature male can be as high as 5-6 feet. The neck, head and antlers can reach another 5 feet. It's amazing to see how quickly they move, even through dense forests.
