Cimarron, Fort Union & New Mexican Prairie

The eastern New Mexican prairie offer expansive, open and completely satisfying grassland scenes. Toss in grazing bison and antelope and it's not hard to envision a line of conestoga wagons wending their way west to Santa Fe. The primeval scenes are awesome.

The ruins are what's left of Fort Union which served as a military fort, and more importantly as a major supply depot many of the other military forts in the southwest and for pioneers heading west. It's an odd ruin that has the appearance of a desert Stonehenge.

This gallery is still under construction. Many more images will added soon.
