the building at, bottom left of this photo, is the HK cultural centre,
and following the waterfront towards the right, the next building
houses the HK museum of art, admission free on wednesday.
behind these buildings, is the dome-shaped roof, of the hong
kong space museum. the building with "SINOPEC" on it's roof,
faces salisbury road, on the eastern corner of nathan road. on the
western corner stands the peninsula hotel. the peninsula hotel was
opened on 11 december 1928, strategically located across the road
from the railway terminus, torn down in 1975, leaving only the clock
tower. the railway station was relocated to new buildings at hung
hom. anyway, the cultural centre opened on 8 november 1989,
amid controversy, over it's lack of windows, and houses two
large concert halls and a studio theatre, often used by the
HK philharmonic orchestra, and visiting performers.
