Luna Park’s Scenic Railway,
built 1911, is the oldest continually-operated roller coaster in the
world. This roller coaster is unusual (it’s one of three in the world),
because it requires a “brakeman”, that’s him standing (centre). He
has to slow the train for corners and at the completion of the ride.
The building, behind it, is part of the Palais Theatre which was built
in 1927, as a cinema and live entertainment centre, by the Phillips
brothers, three American showmen from Washington (state) USA.,
who were, also, part owners of the “Luna Park” amusement park.
