the Chilean huemul, also
known as the south Andean deer (Hippocamelus bisulcus),
is a native of this part of Patagonia. It is featured on the
Chilean National Coat of Arms (along with the Condor),
and is (since 2006, “a National Monument”). Bev spotted,
and photographed, this Huemel, from a boat, near Cochrane.
