you can see (if you look closely)
that the cargo area (at the front) of the cycle rickshaw in the
photo below is skewed to the angle of the cycle. The reason
for this is that the rickshaw is articulated, somewhere near
the front axle under the cargo carrier (not visible from above).

The rail above and at the rear of the cargo bay is the “handle
bar” which steers the vehicle and the other handle, which he
is holding with his right hand, is (I assume) a braking lever.
