Phuket is an island Province,
and the largest island in Thailand, which is connected
to the mainland by two bridges. It has a total land area
of 576 sq km (222 sq mi) and a population of 600,000.
Apparently there are 29 Buddhist temples on the island
of which Wat Chalong is the most important, because a
61 metre high “chedi” (a structure containing Buddhist
Relics) there houses a fragment of bone from the Lord
Buddha and paintings and sculptural images of Buddha.
