“perched” on top of the clock tower
domes of the Royal Liver Building in Liverpool, England, are a couple of
“Liver Birds” which were designed by Carl Bernard Bartels. One Liver Bird
looks over the Pier Head and the Mersey River while the other looks in the
opposite direction (to the east) over the city. A popular legend proposes that
the bird which looks over the pier is a female “watching for seamen to return
home safely” and the other is a male which is “making sure the pubs are open”.
There was some rain here (Buderim) last night. Rainfall for September is 39mm.
