Minerva stopped at Warnemünde,
Germany early in the morning after transiting, the almost 100 kilometres of,
the Kiel Canal. At 0700 a coach was waiting to take some of us on a three
hour trip to Berlin. We had a 5 minute photo stop at the Reichstag building
which was opened in 1894, damaged by fire in 1933 and fell into disrepair
until the 1960’s when it was partially repaired. It was finally reconstructed,
by the renowned architect Norman Foster, after the German reunification
in 1990. The building is, again, the meeting place of the German Parliament.
