Termite mounds. Sat 13.

these mounds, which I photographed
at Mataranka, NT., were built by well organised colonies of social insects
known as Termites. Colonies consist of: reproductive, soldier and worker
termites and although the worker termites (which comprise the majority
of insects in most colonies) resemble ants they are only distantly related.

Rainfall in Buderim for the last 48 hours was 31•6 mm.
