50 kilometres east of La Serena, in
the Coquimbo Region of Chile, the Puclaro Reservoir dams the waters of
Rio Elqui (it holds, when full, around 200 million cubic litres), which is used
to irrigate 2500 small farms which grow fruit (mainly grapes) and vegetables.
