'Solar Flair'

[M. acuminata, M. stellata, M. x brooklynensis], cv. (Fairweather Gardens Nursery Catalog, p. 63, Fall 1999). ‘This cross…displays very good yellow flowers that are heavily textured. Dr. Kehr points out that it blooms late enough that its flowers open in spite of repeated frosts and freezes.’ =R15-18 (M. x brooklynensis cv. Woodsman x M. cv. Gold Star). [Magnolia Society]

(R15-18) – Deep yellow flower with light rose flushed base. Similar to ‘Hot Flash’ but much less rose coloring. Narrow petals that open into an upright, narrow flower approx. 5" tall. Blooms appear before the foliage. Extremely beautiful foliage that is heavy textured and quilted. Leaves have very wavy margins and mature to be 6" wide and 8" long. Growth habit is upright with fairly fast growth rate. Mature height 30’+. [McCracken Nursery]
