The West Baden Springs Hotel in Indiana was built around 1900. By 1932 the stock market crask of 1929 had made it uneconomical and unsellable, so it was given to the Jesuits who used it for a few years. By the 1980's it had fallen into ruins, in fact a large portion of the walls collapsed in 1991. Subsequently the hotel was bought and restored to its former self by the current owner and is once again a thriving (and beautiful) hotel.
