Some photographs of Vat Visoun. Recently some work was done on the art collection of Vat Visoun, with financial assistance of the US Ambasssadors fund for Preservation of Cultural Heritage.
During our September 2011, we visited Luang Prabang. The reason for our visit was twofold:
I was opening an exhibition of some of my photographs about Yao rituals at ProjectSpace gallery, and we wanted to record some more recipes of Northern laos food for our website.
During the opening of the exhibition, I met an official of the American Embassy.
She told me that the US government had funded a restoration project of Vat Xieng Thong, one of the most important old temples in Luang Prabang. She asked if I could photograph the Vat for a calender that would show the past ten years of USA funding restoration projects in Laos.
I enjoyed doing that job. After seeing the outcome, I realised maybe some people outside SE Asia may like access to them, so I decided to post them online. It may look a bit dry and repetitive, but it is a record of how it is now.
