UNDER CONSTRUCTION - more images will be added in the coming few days A few kilometers outside Sen Monorom is a coffee plantation, which is open to visitors, and also has a restaurant. We ended up there during the day we rented a driver with car to do some independent sightseeing. Earlier that morning, we were driving through a small village where we asked the driver to stop when we saw some interesting activity on the porch of a house. A few women were operating a stone rice mill, and producing a thick, slightly yellow sludge, which was poured into a bowl. The driver explained it was a rice flour batter. We photographed the process, and continued on our way. We arranged via the guide that the women would eventually be given prints of the pictures I took that morning. When we stopped for lunch, it was at the restaurant of the coffee plantation. On the menu they had those same pancakes we watched the first step of preparation earlier. We ordered them, they were delicious. Then I asked the woman in the restaurant if we could order one more and photograph/ record the process. They were more then happy to oblige. The following photographs are in sequence first the women in the village making the batter, then the full process in the restaurant, followed by a walk through the coffee plantation which also grows a variety of other products, including pepper. In the coming week or so, the entire story will be written up by my wife Dorothy Culloty and posted on our food blog.
