The story started when we went home home to Bali and I could not resist the temptation to visit our favorite bike shop ( http://www.bmtbonline.com). It was love at the first sight, when we saw the brush paint by twin six at its fork and seat tube. Voila... Yes, I was asking for XOXO first for its wheel base and chain stay length, but after looking and put my hand on this bike, I know my heart set for this DEVIL.
As per discussion with pak Andreas, the owner of The Bike Shop at Bali. We built this maiden with Stan's Notube Rim (black), Soma Red Spokes, DT-Swiss Hub, Dimension stem, SRAM group set, and Cane Creek for its brake and head set and not to forget Brooks B17 for my riding comfort. (even though, I am still looking for Red Brooks from Union Jack Swallows Edition, to complete its patriotic color). As it's arrive at Jakarta, I took it Bagus Bike for fitting and fine tuning ( http://www.bagusbike.com).
Yes, I had doubt at first for its chain stay length and wheel base if I tried comparing with other touring bike such as Surly LHT. However, as I rode for the first time for 118 km. Dang....I swore after a very comfort riding, nice traction while climbing hill or stable when rolling down hill. I event could not believe I reached 25 km/h with 20 Lbs at my rear rack on flat road. I could also maintain my pace at 8 - 12 km/h climbing.
and yes my speedy devil has a defect that one of my left rear rack mount does not have thread to mount my rear rack, but I could fix it by installing salsa rack-seat collar.
I can hardly wait for another day off to have more mileage with my DEVIL. Or shall I put another order for XOXO bike ? *drooling*
I can understand why you fell in love with the Devil on first sight. I would...! But I also enjoyed the rest of your galleries very much. I'm preparing to become a pbase member soon. I will let you know. Been nice meeting you.
