From Krabi to Kho Yao, we took a covered long tail boat. |
 |
 |
Traveling through Phang Nga national park, we passed rock formations, uninhabited islands, |
 and more limestone cliffs. |
Approaching Kho Yao Island Resort. It's very secluded. |
Our "room", an open air hut. |
 The sitting area |
 The bedroom |
The bed was surrounded by shutters. |
In the evenings, the staff would close the shutters and put mosquito smoke pots around the bed. |
The bathroom. One shower was on the other side of the mirror. |
The other shower was in the backyard. |
The view from our front steps. We spent most of our time on those lounges at the edge of the lawn. |
 Fishermen at dawn |
The rising sun on the resort (at low tide) |
The center building is where we ate most of our meals. |
One day, we rented a scooter to explore the island. |
Came across a rubber tree farm. |
 |
The farmer scores the trunks of the trees and the latex drips down into cups. |
After the latex is cooked into rubber, it sets up in pans. |
The farmer rolls out the rubber by hand. |
Then stacks the slabs by the hand-cranked press. |
He rolls each slab into a thin sheet. |
Which then dries on a line, until it's ready to go to the processing plant. |
We also saw a shrimp and lobster farm, |
a family heading into town, |
 some old boats, |
and a farmer leading his water buffalo. |
 In town, |
Pierre filled up the scooter's gas tank. |
Then, we saw what looked like a bird fair. |
Turned out to be a competition. All the men were betting on whose bird was the best singer. There were two judges. |
 Who's watching who? |
Back to the resort for more sun, walks on the beach, and reading. |
Our trip is almost over. :-( |
 Goodnight Kho Yao. |
