The RJC local swaps an empty for a load at the McCauley Brothers feed mill in Versailles

Versailles, KY

The RJC local swaps an empty for a load at the McCauley Brothers feed mill in Versailles Sunday afternoon. McCauley Brothers has been in continuous business since 1938, and manufactures "Top Shelf" horse feed for the Thoroughbred industry. They get several loads of Canadian Oats a month. When the L&O was operating the this line, our office was right across the street from the mill, and many a morning I would walk over there and get a small sack of "sweet feed" when they where making it....fresh roasted oats covered in molasses all warm and gooey.....good for the horses and VERY tasty for a railroaders breakfast !
