A single image, out of over a 100 I composed on Saturday October 27th, 2012. Technically flawed, but full of meaning. A single image, because that's all I could bring myself to do as I watched the scene unfold through the viewfinder, my mind suddenly filled with unexpected thoughts.
Its a cold and blustery Fall evening in Chattanooga as SR 630 sprints by the National Cemetery. In the foreground is a monument to the key players in the "Great Locomotive Chase" during the civil war. The final resting place of Andrews raiders and Thousands of other service men and women from all of our countries wars. Lives given without hesitation or remorse, so we might have the freedom to live as Americans.
As we stood on that hill and listened to the sound of the whistle calling out
into the night, a shiver went through me, and it wasn't the cold night air that caused it.
Sometimes, things are put into perspective when you least expect it, sometimes you have to stop and reflect on the sacrifice it took to make this country what it is....sometimes you just have to stand and close your eyes and offer up a litte prayer and thanks for what you have. Sometimes you just have to put the camera down and remember the scene in your minds viewfinder, as that whistle fades into the distance.
