Eugene Friesen

Long story short, in the summer of 2000 Audrey and I
went to hear Eugene Friesen play in a Kansas prairie.
I've played the cello since 2nd grade and have been
aware of Eugene's work for many years.
I told Audrey that I would take my camera and try to sneak
a few pictures of Eugene playing.

As it turns out I began taking pictures early on, and one thing
led to another, and Audrey and I were able to have a photo session
with Eugene after the concert.

It was just the three of us for about an
hour and a half! These photos are from that session.

Eugene is the cellist for the world famous Paul Winter Consort.

Very strong portrait. Shooting this in this environment sets it a cut above traditional "in studio" work. Excellent! GMV

We can read the concentration and the enjoyment of music on his face. You understood that and that's how you were able to get this wonderful photograph.

Not the most usual of locations for such a photo, but maybe that's why it works so well.
