Rooftop View

I have spent many, many hours working on the roof of our business over the last few years.
We have been patching, repairing and re-coating with white elastomeric material the last few days.
My hands, and muscles are sore and I am ready for a break.

There is a wooden ladder which rests on the floor of the second story of our building and angles up to a capped opening which leads to the fresh air of the roof.
Much of the ladder is black from roofing tar spilled and tracked by roofers over many decades. Our building was built in the 20's.
I sometimes wonder who these people were that climbed this ladder over the years. I am just one of many, and I pass through there memories when I climb to the roof.
