This gallery contains photographs of a recent installation at Living Arts of Tulsa.
Titled "A View With a Room," the exhibition features work by Oklahoma artist Audrey
Schmitz and Chicago-based Scott Kildall and is on view from Jan 11-Feb 1, 2007.
According to an article in the Tulsa World, "Schmitz's work mixes photography and
sculpture to create images that are at once confrontational and serene, placing images
of human faces in contexts that recall religious icons. Other works use elements of
many portraits to create 'new' cross-shaped faces." Kildall's interactive video piece
is titled "Your Prophecy," and the viewer looks through a small opening to watch a
two-minute video made up of the "in-between shots" of such films as "Blue Velvet"
and "American Beauty" - transitional moments that contain no faces or dialogue.
Living Arts of Tulsa is under the direction of Steve Liggitt. Visit the gallery
