Goblin Valley State Park

Goblin Valley

Relatively few people visit Goblin Valley State Park because of its remoteness. It lies at the edge of the vast San Rafael Desert, 12 miles from the small village of Hanksville, Utah, but far from any town of significance. The park is famous for its large collections of fancifully shaped rock formations which have been carved by centuries of abrasion by wind and water. Because of the other worldliness of the "creatures" in the park, it was used as an alien planet during the filming of the 1999 movie "Galaxy Quest."
