How majestic in his own way! I have seen a few house finches similar to this (come to think of it,almost all male) and they do indeed seem to persevere. Despite his condition of this one, it looks like he's able to eat & keep up his weight. I've even seen these types playing the mating game, so, as you say, true mettle!
