This giant Budda statue is one of major tourist attractions in Kamakura, Japan.
Constructed in 1252, over centuries it survived tsunamis, earthquakes and typhoons.
The same cannot be said about the buildings that housed it - several were destroyed
by the elements, resulting in a decision to leave the bronze statue out in the open.
Initially, the statue was surrounded by over thirty lotus sculptures
(one shown here) but only four survived until today.
