I had just found a nice vantage point in a far corner of the yard to photograph the little temple, when this group of monks entered the scene, after finishing some sort of a ceremony. I did not even need to recompose... what a lucky shot!
The Hokakuji Temple is a great place to visit if you ever make it to Kamakura. It is best known - and justifiably so - for its small bamboo forest. But it is also one of more important Zen temples in Kamakura, and this says something, given the abundance of temples in that lovely little town.
