That evening, the probability of seeing the northern lights was very low. On a scale from 1 (expect nothing) to 9 (things will be truly wild), the Kp index was 2.
Still, I decided to chance it, and drove to a nearby lake. After standing in -25 C cold for over an hour, this beauty was the reward that came. It only lasted a few minutes, but hey... :)
Plus, it was my first time ever watching the aurora with zero moonlight. It does make a difference. Not necessarily _better_ than with moonlight, which I love, but just different... And about a billion more stars too.
