Polar moonrise

In late July and early August, sunsets in the Arctic are spectacular. The sun disappears below the horizon on a very shallow trajectory, resulting in two to three hours of pastel dusk. What I did NOT know is that, conversly, the moon never really rises much above the horizon during the polar day. It merely comes up two or three discs widths above the horizon, peaks out, and then plunges below again.
