One of the most iconic sights in Namibia, this is the Dead Vlei salt pan located right smack in the middle of the Namib desert, next to the better known Sossusvlei and the nearby village of Sesriem.
While in general the desert is at its most photogenic close to sunrise and sunset, this particular place looks even better at high noon, with the scorching sun beating down on you (as a side benefit, there are then few tourists on the pan, which is full of visitors earlier in the day)
