Balance Budget on backs of the poor.jpg

Social programs have been cut including supplements to day care for working poor and health insurance programs. Billionaires get tax cuts and upper-class welfare payments, including large tax deductions on their vacation homes.

My point is that wealthy people and corporations are given handouts by the government and many of the same people that receive them are against welfare for poor people.

Workers should be able to earn a decent wage. I hear that even some US servicement and their families qualify for welfare because their salaries are so low. Should they get another job or is the onus on the employer to pay a decent living wage.

Corporate Welfare; Cronyism. Both political parties are responsible. Shame.

Guest,

Are you saying that you would like to do away with ALL welfare? Does that include tax breaks for homeowners, including the main residence AND a million dollar vacation home? How about a complete tax deduction for the purchase of an SUV, like a hummer? Or are you saying that the US should only drop welfare programs for small children whose parents don't have enough money to feed them or provide health care? It's not a small probelm -- seventeen percent of US children live below the poverty line. That figure is just below Mexico's child poverty rate. Is that a proud statistic for the richest nation in the world?
