Tabon bird used to be common in coastal areas of the indo-pacific islands however due to human encroachment, trapping and collection of eggs the natural population of this almost flightless bird had dwindled. In other areas it is already locally extinct. It digs its nest in the sand where it covers its eggs (hence the name "tabon") and makes use of with the heat of the sun to incubate until they hatch. Great pix!
